Untitled by Ala al-Wadiya
This untitled piece by Ala al-Wadiya shows the deep and tired expression of a surrealistic person, with a keffiyeh around their shoulders, the word "Gaza" imprinted on their palm as they rest their chin in their hand, and the outline of Palestine on their wrist.

Ala Al-Wadiya is a talented digital illustrator and children's book artist from Gaza, specializing in animation and motion graphics. Tragically, both her home and studio were destroyed during the genocide, and she suffered the heartbreaking loss of many family members and friends.
In the midst of such turmoil, art became Ala's refuge—a powerful means to cope with the overwhelming stress, fear, and grief surrounding her. Through her creativity, she found a way to express her emotions and share her experiences. The pieces she created during this difficult time reflect not only her resilience but also her hope for a brighter future.
By sharing her artwork, Ala aims to support her family and cover essential needs like rent, food, and water, as she has been unable to work since the conflict began. Her journey is a testament to the strength of the human spirit and the transformative power of art in the face of adversity.
